Rirothe Cakes and Pastry is a fully black owned independent bakery with experience in baking of assorted cakes, muffins, cookies and biscuits.
Rirothe Cakes and Pastry started its first commercial operation in a small makeshift garage in 2004 with little capital and few staff made up of mainly family members. Today, Rirothe Cakes and Pastry has grown into a flourishing baking business with an increasingly growing clientele.
From the very words of the Rabelani Makonde, the CEO and owner of the company “Rirothe Cakes and Pastry" conceived out of my passion to bake cakes that would appeal to a constantly growing market”.
With a large number of small businesses failing within the very first year of their operations in South Africa; Rirothe Cakes and Pastry has stood the test of time.
“With an average of ten customers per month in 2004; Rirothe Cakes and Pastry now attracts an average of 30 customers monthly”.
Rirothe Cakes and Pastry has also diversified from baking only cakes to other delicious products such as scones, jam tarts, muffins, cookies and biscuits. Today, Rirothe Cakes and Pastry has grown her workforce and is able to operate daily.
At Rirothe Cakes and Pastry, we continue to adopt employment systems that directly empower women and the unemployed, adhering to international ethical workplace codes of conduct and also transferring relevant skills that will help tackle unemployment among young women in South Africa.
Despite being a small business, we have developed operational systems that are structured to meet health and safety standards and best practices. From our strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards, to our commitment to using only products that have been certified as healthy; Rirothe Cakes and Pastry is also committed to a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that we satisfy our growing customers.
With an ambitious expansion plan in the works, Rirothe Cakes and Pastry continue to inspire millions of women across South Africa and is determined to make a real and sustainable difference through dedication, passion and hard work.
